John Spooner and Mark Knight – Cartoonists in Conversation

Get inside the minds of two of Australia’s finest cartoonists. John Spooner and Mark Knight usually let their pictures do the talking and, drawing on over 70 years of combined experience, have captured the highs and lows of Australian life. This time they come together at Willy Lit Fest to chat about everything under the sun!

After an award winning career of over 40 years with the Melbourne Age, John Spooner has written the soon to be published What the Hell Was He Thinking?, a book on the most controversial issues facing 21st century journalism and politics, illustrated by many of his cartoons, illustrations, etchings and paintings. With the explosive revolution of the internet and social media has come the depletion of traditional pluralistic journalism, the tribalism of politics and the corrosive harassment of free speech. Spooner also offers his thoughts on various other topics like the creative process, crime and punishment, art as therapy and Donald Trump.

For almost three decades, multi-award-winning cartoonist Mark Knight has been capturing the heart and soul of Australia and the world in his cartoons, illustrations and caricatures.
