Biography

Ailsa Wild is an acrobat and whip cracker who ran away from the circus to be a writer. She loves collaborating and has made work with scientists, circus artists, kids and musicians. Ailsa’s publications with CSIRO Publishing and Scale Free Network are science adventure stories starring microbes, molecules and mucus, where bacteria are the heroes. The Invisible War,  a graphic novel with Scale Free Network won numerous awards, including the Award for Excellence in Educational Publishing with Education Publishing Australia and the Most Underrated Book Award.  She is also the author of the Squishy Taylor series for 6-10 year olds, about the adventures of daredevil, problem-solving Squishy and her chaotic blended family, which has been shortlisted for several awards and published in the UK the US, Spain and Brazil. Squishy Taylor and the Bonus Sisters and The Invisible War were both Children’s Book Council of Australia Notable Books in 2017. Ailsa’s work has appeared in Meanjin, The Monthly and on stages across Australia.
