Rob Brown has a wide background in educational administration, particularly in the tertiary sector. He initially trained as a secondary English and ESL teacher, and his early career saw him working in the Curriculum Branch of the Western Australian Education Department, as well as in government and private institutions.
After spending more than three years in Japan as an English language curriculum developer, he returned to take up a post as an academic skills adviser and marketer in a university’s International Students’ Office, and has been working in the tertiary education sector ever since. He is now the Executive Director – Engagement and Government Relations at Victoria University, where he has worked since coming to Melbourne from Perth in 2004.
Rob’s professional interests particularly focus on tertiary education policy and analysis, as well as the strategic marketing of education services, in which area he completed his doctorate. His personal interests include movies, music and sports (especially cricket) – and, of course, reading!
