Much of my poetry resides in drawers or boxes. The Adas meant that two poems saw daylight again; they were clipped, groomed, vigorously edited and entered. To have them shortlisted and published in such an impressive Anthology made my whole year. But to win the poetry section was an honour and a sheer delight.
I was impressed at how the organisers of the competition made us feel welcome and valued. This event truly encourages writers to excel.
Speaking of encouragement and warmth, it was wonderful to be part of a literary event that honoured Joan Kirner.
I am inspired. I will continue to write and open up some boxes.
