Homegrown Hobsons bay

Celebrating and growing local writers

Homegrown Hobsons Bay

Hobsons Bay is a community with a deep and proud literary history and vibrant and diverse culture of writing.

Homegrown Hobsons Bay is an innovative program to celebrate and to grow the potential and reach of, writers from Hobsons Bay. Homegrown writers are featured in a database, and their titles are clearly identified within Hobsons Bay City libraries with the Homegrown branding.

Homegrown Hobsons Bay is also about supporting up-and-coming writers. Hobsons Bay Libraries are pleased to offer use of library facilities for your next book launch and can assist you in the planning and promotion of your event.

If you are a published (or soon-to-published) writer with a significant connection to the City of Hobsons Bay please be in contact with Homegrown Hobsons Bay to discuss how the program can assist.

Williamstown Literary Festival is pleased to partner with Hobsons Bay Libraries to present festival pre-events featuring local authors. Please join us on Thursday 15 June at 6.30pm at the Coucil Chamber, Williamstown Town Hall, when Homegrown Hobsons Bay writers, Nicholas Abdilla, Erin Landells, Rachel Buchanan and Helen Penrose explore backstory: what happens behind the scenes of the writing and the writers. Be informed, inspired, challenged and maybe shocked at what makes a great story and a great writer. Free event, please book through library.
