“It is my soul that calls upon my name; How silver-sweet sound lovers’ tongues by night like softest music to attending ears!” — William Shakespeare
Join two of Melbourne’s best minds and marvellous wordsmiths in a session devoted to the spoken word. Speakola curator, author and presenter Tony Wilson takes a turn with the brilliant Tony Birch to hear how words change us, and history, too. How public oratory can be a clarion call, how text spoken out loud can raise an army, enflame the senses or sooth the soul and calm the storm.
Come celebrate with us to open the Winter Writers Festival and bring along some of your own favourite odes.
Join us at the Italian Club for this inspirational session, enjoy a drink, some food, indulge, listen and stick around for the music with a trio from the Newport Folk Festival.
Limited capacity in a lovely venue.
