STEM Stars

“Science, for me, gives a partial explanation for life” – Rosalind Franklin, an overlooked female figure who helped uncover the structure of DNA.

So why are there so few women recognised in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)?

Since Wild Dingo Press produced their STEM stars series devoted to short biographies of Australian science superstars, the books have gone off! The festival welcomes three award-winning authors Claire Saxby, Rebecca Lim and Emily Gale to discuss the science-led lives of Georgina Ward-Fear, Eddie Woo and Gisela Kaplan. Who better to put the these authors under the microscope than a future STEM star, local high school student Elena Turner. We know, right!

We throw in a pop quiz at the end of the session for a chance at a book prize. Test your recall and get enlightened with this terrific panel of great minds.

Sunday 20 June at 12.30pm
