Claire Saxby writes award-winning fiction, non-fiction and poetry for children. Some of her books encompass all three. From big historical stories with strong curriculum links like Haywire (novel, NSW Premier’s History Award shortlist 2020), picture books Bird to Bird and The Anzac Billy, to books about iconic Australian animals including Dingo and Kookaburra, to strongly rhythmic works like Seadog and There Was an Old Sailor. Her books aim to engage, entertain, inform and encourage curiosity. Claire’s work is published in Australia and internationally. Recent books include Aussie Stem Stars: Georgia Ward Fear (biography), Iceberg (ill Jess Racklyeft) and Treasure! (illustrated by Tull Suwannakit).
