James Thomas

James has come to the world of poetry performance only in 2017. He did not even know there were places
you could perform in public, until he discovered a competition in Trentham as part of “Words in Winter”. He had been learning and memorising a lot of poetry well before that for his own enjoyment and (that of his grandchildren!?). He then discovered there were competitions at Corryong, one of which was “The Man from Snowy River Recital competition (entry by invitation after auditioning via online submission of an audio file). Since then he has competed every year, achieving three third prizes, and two second prizes. At his first time at Corryong, he heard about the Henry Lawson Memorial & Literary Society and joined soon after. He became a committee member in 2019, and became President in 2020, a position which he has filled since.
